Stark House

The homeowners of this primary suite are modern-minded people living in a historic Tudor house. We wanted to create a luxury en suite with Art Deco and Modern Glam influence while still honoring the architecture of the home. Five different tiles formed a balance between WOW moments and simplification. The black glossy trim, hex marble, and geometric sphered lighting are a nod to Art Deco style. The wallpapered ceiling and emerald green velvet drapes compliment their Modern Glam aesthetic. Merging these styles gave us a vintage yet contemporary primary bedroom, bathroom, and dressing room.

We expanded the original bathroom to include a claw foot tub and double vanity with custom medicine cabinets. The transom window between the bathroom and bedroom allows additional light into the bathroom and creates a beautiful detail on the bedroom side. To respect the details of the house, we reused the original doors and used them as sliding doors to the bathroom and dressing room and kept all the original trim but gave it a modern facelift with gloss black paint. The happy homeowners said, “they feel like they’re in a luxury hotel.” This project was a collaboration with Mary Best of Mary Best Designs.
