Edgewood ADA Bathroom

This homeowner approached us to design an accessible bathroom for her husband who had suffered an injury, limiting him to a wheelchair. Her home had a small full bathroom on the first floor, however, it was not large enough for wheelchair access. We reconfigured her foyer to accommodate the new bathroom by removing closet space. Using the existing entry space, we increased the entry door size and added a side lite for more light into the foyer.

We wanted to be sure to incorporate characteristics of this 1908 home when designing the bathroom and be cognizant to make the space look like a bathroom and not too institutional. We used white subway tile complete with pencil liner and chair rail along with classic black and white floret tile floor. The floating vanity allows for wheelchair access and grab bars are placed throughout to allow for independent use.
