Story Hill Renovations in the spotlight!

Nothing makes our team happier than a happy client. But recently, something else came pretty close. Story Hill Renovations was in the spotlight twice for our renovation of a 1935 Enderis Park Tudor.

The home was featured both by This Old House and Tosa Connection in two wonderful articles that showcased the exceptional design skills and painstaking craftsmanship of our team.

The owners, Victoria and Keith Cowan, had lived in the house nearly 25 years and made major repairs when they first moved in. When it was time to rethink their primary living space for more comfort, functionality and appeal, Story Hill Renovations worked with them to reimagine their entire first floor.

The bedroom, hallway, sitting room and small bathroom were reconfigured into a primary bath-and-bedroom suite and a small guest bathroom. In the kitchen, existing custom-made cabinets were carefully adapted to fit new appliances, a new wall of cabinets created more storage space, and an adjacent sunroom was redesigned as an eating area with a built-in buffet and bench seating.

The result? As This Old House put it: “Clever reconfiguring, classic design, and age-in-place assets now make everyday living and entertaining easier and more luxurious.” Better yet was this quote from Victoria Cowan: “The new layout makes it feel like living in a new house. We were still able to honor the design features of our almost 90-year-old home.”

We are fans of Tosa Connection, a magazine that keeps our neighbors connected to local activities, and businesses. So we were honored when they featured us in a two-page spread that recapped the same project. “We get a thrill out of bringing a beautiful old home up to date by making it more functional without sacrificing its personality,” Owner Jack Golatke said in that article. “We’ll go the extra mile to find the right solution.”

The Cowans’ home is just one example of the way we approach every job: committed to retaining the personality of an old home while elevating its efficiency, functionality and comfort.
