The owners of this 1940 Colonial Revival home in Whitefish Bay loved its classic charm but longed for a layout that better supported everyday living and connection to their beautiful backyard. Story Hill Renovations was tasked with building an addition that expanded the home’s footprint in a way that felt natural and focused on enhancing, rather than altering, its original character.
The addition opened the back of the home to create a light-filled kitchen with a spacious island, wet bar, and seamless indoor-outdoor flow. Expansive sliding doors lead to a deck, making Wisconsin summers and backyard gatherings effortless. Above, a new primary suite overlooks the tree-lined yard, complete with a sleek primary bathroom.
The former kitchen now serves as a formal dining room, while a thoughtfully designed mudroom space adds function and everyday ease. Exterior updates and traditional materials honor the home’s Colonial roots, while interior details, from high-end finishes to built-in features like a dog bowl station, blend timeless craftsmanship with modern comfort.
