Who We Are

A TEAM OF PROFESSIONALS PRIMED TO LOVE YOUR OLD HOME AS MUCH AS YOU DO

For all their characterful qualities, old houses and renovations go together like brick and mortar. Kitchens and bathrooms are our specialty, but our experience is broad. Ask us about remodeling anywhere from basement to attic. Whatever space is in need of TLC, we pride ourselves on our craftsmanship, attention to detail, and customer satisfaction. Our renovators are insured, licensed professionals, and members of the Milwaukee chapter of NARI (National Association of the Remodeling Industry). Let’s meet the team.

Jack Golatke, CR

SALES | DESIGN

Jack is a Wauwatosa family man who enjoys fixing up his 1882 home along with his other family-owned rental properties. He admires the charm of Milwaukee’s vintage homes and loves the challenge of upgrading and remodeling these spaces while staying true to their original time period and style. Jack is a graduate of UWM and a NARI Certified Remodeler. He’s also an avid Brewers fan, a community volunteer, and leads Story Hill’s involvement in local events and clubs.

Tom Mainville, MCR, UDCP

BUSINESS OPERATIONS | PRODUCTION

As a partner at Story Hill Renovations LLC since its inception in 2007, Tom takes pride in the company’s focus on building relationships with its clients, staff, and trade partners. He continually looks for ways to improve the overall business. His passion to promote remodeling led to his involvement within the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) – which led to him becoming the chapter President in 2020. Born and raised in Milwaukee, he and his business partner continue to be advocates of all the great things the city has to offer. From their deep appreciation of the history and architecture to their love for the Brewers – they truly will always call Milwaukee “home.”

Karly

Interior Designer

Karly initially graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Merchandising and worked as an assistant buyer and online merchandiser before taking a break from her career to raise her two children. During that time, her family bought a house in Whitefish Bay, where they began renovating it top-to-bottom. Karly realized how much she enjoyed the design process, so she decided to pursue it professionally. She returned to college in 2020 to earn her Associate’s Degree in Interior Design from Milwaukee Area Technical College and was excited for the opportunity to join Story Hill Renovations as a Design Assistant. When not searching for fresh design inspiration, she likes to play tennis, try new recipes (and cross her fingers her kids will eat them), and go on hikes with her family.

Rachel

Interior Designer

Rachel has found “the perfect fit” in her role at Story Hill Renovations, where she combines creativity with detailed planning and organization. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota, she found a path to interior design by working for a few different firms before landing at Story Hill. She loves collaborating with a team that values a home’s history and character while updating it for today’s homeowners. “It’s such a satisfying feeling to help homeowners find a better use for their space and leave them with a home they will love for years to come.” When she’s not getting to know clients, Rachel loves reading, hiking, and seeing independent films at the historic Downer and Oriental theaters.

Tom H

REMODELING PROJECT MANAGER

Over his varied career, Tom has renovated everything from an old bar in Walker’s Point to old miners’ cottages in the Upper Peninsula. He can’t imagine sitting behind a desk. Raised in Switzerland to Dutch parents before moving to the States as a teen; Tom now lives in Milwaukee. When he’s not raising two teenagers, he likes to sail, mountain bike, paddle board and hang out with friends. At Story Hill, he was happy to find good systems in place, good people, and a reputation for quality. “That’s a beautiful thing to step into.”

David, CRPM

Remodeling Project Manager

Growing up in Fond du Lac as the youngest of 11 children, David learned early on how to fix things around the house. He got his start as a carpenter framing houses before joining a company that took him around the state doing the same work for commercial structures. He has put down his tool box to join Story Hill Renovations as Project Manager, where he enjoys working with customers to coordinate all the details of home renovations, from walk-through to inspection. When David isn’t at work, he’s often fishing for musky up north.

TAMMY

BOOKKEEPER

Tammy comes to Story Hill Renovations with financial experience primarily in the insurance industry.   Putting her skillset to work for such a creative and exciting company as Story Hill is an exciting new life chapter.  She, her husband, and 3 children have called Sussex home since 1995 and are rooted in the friendships they have enjoyed there as well as the sense of community that Sussex provides.   When she is not on the beaches of Florida with her family and 20 of her closest friends, you will likely find her at a concert or playing in the back yard with her brand new Golden Retriever puppy.
