This large-scale historic home renovation on Milwaukee’s East Side updated the kitchen, primary suite, multiple bathrooms, great room, dining room, butler’s pantry, sunroom and additional living spaces. Throughout the home, Story Hill Renovations balanced modern functionality and luxurious finishes with the careful preservation of its original architectural character. Improved layouts, restored architectural elements and thoughtful design choices create a cohesive experience from room to room. While every space has its own distinct personality, each one feels connected to the home’s history, resulting in a renovation that is vibrant, highly personal and respectful of its remarkable past and enduring character.
The renovation celebrates the craftsmanship and character of the original home while making it more comfortable and functional for modern living. Historic details were carefully protected, even as significant structural changes created opportunities to improve the home’s layout and expand the primary bathroom. Each bathroom brings a different expression to the overall design, ranging from quietly elegant to playful and dramatically moody. These spaces have received notable industry recognition, including a 2025 ASID Wisconsin Design Excellence Award and finalist in the Milwaukee Magazine Home & Design Awards. Together, they demonstrate how personalized design can complement a historically significant Milwaukee residence.
