Milwaukee Family Kitchen

This Wauwatosa kitchen was completely reimagined to create a more open, connected, and highly functional space for everyday family life. By opening walls and reconfiguring the existing layout, the kitchen now flows seamlessly into adjacent living and dining areas, improving both sightlines and circulation. The transformation centers around a generous island, designed to serve as the true hub of the home. The kitchen island offers ample seating, prep space, and a natural gathering point for this family of eight.

Custom cabinetry in a warm, neutral palette brings a timeless foundation, while thoughtful storage solutions ensure the kitchen works as beautifully as it looks. A combination of perimeter cabinetry and built-in elements maximizes efficiency without overwhelming the space. The introduction of rich wood ceiling beams adds architectural depth and visual warmth, helping to define the kitchen while maintaining the openness achieved in the new layout.

Material selections were carefully chosen to balance durability, timelessness, and elevated design. A cream city brick viner backsplash introduces subtle variation that complements the clean lines of the custom cabinetry and ceiling beams. High quality finishes and natural materials were selected for their visual character as well as their ability to withstand the demands of everyday family life.

The kitchen renovation also included a custom mudroom remodel designed to improve storage and organization for a busy family of eight. Built-in cabinetry, expanded closet space, and integrated storage solutions created dedicated areas for coats, boots, backpacks, and seasonal gear, helping the home function more efficiently throughout Milwaukee’s changing seasons. Designed to feel cohesive with the kitchen, the custom mudroom cabinetry adds warmth, organization, and everyday functionality while reducing clutter and supporting modern family life.
