A modern gathering space, that’s what this couple desired out of their mid-century house. The main goal was to open the kitchen up to the family room and close off the formal living space from the other areas of the house. We designed an open kitchen that featured custom slab cabinets, built-in appliances, a beautiful chunky island countertop and handmade dimensional tile.
In the formal living space, we closed up a doorway, added simplified built-ins and new lighting to create a warm and inviting space. The garage entry features walnut paneling that provides warmth against the terrazzo tile floor. We carried the walnut through to the mudroom bench and into furniture and decorative accents.
